Wrapping Up an Incredible Year with HYDAC!
On Friday, we had our final HYDAC (Halton Youth Disability Advisory Council) meeting of the year—this gave our council members time to reflect on everything they have accomplished as a community and celebrate the hard work.
This year, HYDAC truly showed what’s possible when passion meets purpose:
Community Garden Work: From weeding to planting pollinator gardens, creating a green highway that will support life - we got our hands dirty and made spaces bloom with life and connection.
Music Club Events: We brought rhythm and joy to the community through shared experiences that connected people of all abilities with our learn to play ukulele and drumming circles
Art Club Outdoor Creations: Our artistic talents were showcased in projects like creating two outdoor hand painted canoes with indigenous plants that brightened various communities, free art club classes, proving that art truly has the power to unite and bring people together.
✉️ Letter Writing and Advocacy: We addressed important issues, raised our voices, and engaged with political leaders to make real change happen.
Every accomplishment this year is a testament to the determination, creativity, and heart of our crew members. HYDAC isn’t just a council—it’s a family, a movement, and a community committed to making the world more inclusive and vibrant.
Here’s to 2024 and all the amazing things to come
